SUMMARY:ACT: Clean Energy Apprenticeships in Action
DESCRIPTION:This capstone event showcases real-world apprenticeship programs in the clean energy sector. Through a series of case studies\, attendees will hear directly from employers\, apprentices\, and intermediaries about what makes their programs successful. The session will highlight implementation strategies\, challenges and lessons learned\, and the measurable impacts on workforce development and community equity. This is a valuable session for practitioners seeking inspiration\, practical models\, and peer learning opportunities. \nSpeakers \nCharlie Cornish\, Co-Founder\, American Apprenticeships Work \nCharlie Cornish is the Co-Founder of American Apprenticeships Work\, a national leader in building scalable\, employer-driven apprenticeship programs for modern industries. He’s partnered with organizations like NECA and Miller Electric to design and launch training models that develop talent based on potential rather than credentials. Charlie helped lead the launch of the first-ever USDOL-registered\, office-based apprenticeship for project managers in the electrical industry—now used by NECA employers across the country. With over 15 years of experience in workforce innovation\, he builds programs that align real employer needs with accessible\, high-quality training. His work makes apprenticeships easy for employers to adopt—and\, in doing so\, creates meaningful career pathways and upward mobility for individuals often overlooked by traditional systems. \nEthan Kenvarg\, Founder & Principal\, Neshe Consulting \nEthan Kenvarg is the Founder & Principal Consultant of Neshe Consulting\, a boutique agency specializing in all thing’s apprenticeship. Ethan is an accomplished strategic leader in the workforce & education sectors. He has unique expertise in creating and operating Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs) — best-in-class workforce initiatives overseen by the US Department of Labor. He has engaged a wide variety of clients including Fortune 500 companies\, state and federal agencies\, and nonprofit organizations. \nPreviously\, Ethan led national operations and implementation strategy for Apprentice\, helping launch some of the country’s first ever RAPs for tech jobs. As an apprenticeship ambassador\, he has addressed the Massachusetts House Committee on Labor and Workforce Development\, and guest lectured at Stanford University’s school of Design Thinking. He has received awards from the Massachusetts Workforce Association\, and his efforts were recognized by former Governor Charlie Baker and State Secretary of Labor Rosalyn Acosta.

SUMMARY:EBC Webinar: Climate Resiliency Funding in 2025: Updates\, Challenges\, and Creative Strategies
DESCRIPTION:This EBC Climate Change Webinar will provide timely updates on federal and state funding programs previously presented in October 2024. Recent legal and legislative developments have limited access to available climate resources at the federal level. States\, regions\, and communities are increasingly allocating resources to fight climate change and develop resiliency-related funding sources to proactively adapt to expected climate impacts. As climate events continue to become more frequent and severe\, where does this leave us now? \nThis webinar will explore creative and emerging funding strategies\, including case studies and insights from both former federal staff and regional leaders. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how states like Massachusetts and Maine\, alongside private and philanthropic partners\, are mobilizing resources to advance climate adaptation and resiliency initiatives. \nA robust audience Q&A will conclude the webinar.

SUMMARY:NESEA: BuildingEnergy NYC 2025
DESCRIPTION:NESEA’s BuildingEnergy NYC conference and trade show is a chance to immerse yourself in a full day of networking and intensive learning with your peers from the fields of design\, construction\, engineering\, policy\, finance\, and beyond. This unique event is designed by and for our community of practitioners\, ensuring that the content is useful\, relevant\, and on the leading edge. Conference sessions present best practices and lessons learned based on real case studies and proven data\, as well as showcasing innovative technologies and programs. If you are a building sustainability professional in any stage of your career\, please join us on Thursday\, October 16 at Convene 237 Park Avenue in New York City! \nConference Theme: Action and Adaptation\nThe NESEA community has always been a force for courageous\, innovative change. The climate movement in the United States is at a pivotal moment this year\, with federal government actions likely to slow or even reverse progress toward established targets. At the same time\, we are facing the rising frequency and severity of extreme weather events—uprooting people’s lives and costing billions of dollars annually. In this new climate reality and complex policy environment\, it is more important than ever for us to find creative ways to adapt and move forward with confidence\, and to design buildings that will continue to perform at the highest level while withstanding these changing conditions. \nThe 2025 BuildingEnergy NYC conference will focus on how those of us in the building industries can continue to take effective action by incorporating resilience\, adaptation\, and mitigation strategies towards large-scale climate goals\, while navigating an environment where regulatory and funding structures are unpredictable. We all must think critically and innovatively about the approaches that are feasible to continue driving impact in an uncertain national landscape\, as well as how design and policy considerations themselves can look toward the future and center climate adaptation. \nWho Attends\nBuildingEnergy NYC attendees are leaders and emerging professionals from across the Northeast\, committed to developing a more sustainable\, healthy\, and resilient built environment. They represent a wide range of industries\, backgrounds\, and levels of experience.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Massachusetts Chapter of the Society of Women Environmental Professionals (SWEP-MA) and our host\, Trinity Consultants – Safety Partners\, for an evening with Elizabeth Foughty\, MBA. \nWorkplace Empowerment\, with Elizabeth Foughty\, MBA \nToo often\, conversations about empowering women at work revolve around imitating traditionally masculine behaviors or finding a mentor to help “navigate the system.” But what if the goal isn’t to navigate a broken system—it’s to reshape it? \nIn this talk\, Elizabeth Foughty draws from her two decades of experience leading go-to-market strategy in high-tech and deeply technical fields\, from NASA to insurance to Space startups\, to challenge outdated notions of leadership and success. She shares actionable insights on how women can show up as powerful without compromising authenticity\, how to cultivate influence outside the traditional hierarchy\, and why we must stop waiting for mentors and start building ecosystems of mutual support. \nMeet with other environmental professionals for this presentation and dinner\, with time for discussion and networking.   \nTime:       6 PM – Registration opens \n                6-6:30 PM – Dinner and networking \n                6:30-8 PM – Presentation & Discussion \nAbout our speaker:   \nElizabeth Foughty is the Chief Business Officer at Orbital Sentry\, where she leads strategy and partnerships for Earth observation technologies aimed at tackling climate risk. With a career spanning NASA\, geospatial AI startups\, insurtechs\, and satellite data providers like Planet Labs\, Elizabeth blends deep technical expertise with a passion for impact. She brings a unique perspective shaped by her MBA in Sustainable Management and years spent launching cutting-edge technologies in male-dominated industries like the insurance and space sectors. A longtime advocate for women in tech and science\, Elizabeth is committed to empowering women to lead in the fight for environmental resilience. \nAbout our host: \nFor 30+ years\, Safety Partners has grown alongside the east coast life science industry\, servicing over 900 companies ranging from single employee startups to incubators to big pharma. SUMMARY:SWEP-CT: Lunch-and-Learn: CT DEEP Data Quality Assessment/Data Usability Evaluation (DQA/DUE) Basics
DESCRIPTION:Please join SWEP for a meeting with Veronica “Roni” Tanguay\, an Environmental Analyst at the CT DEEP.  Roni leads the DEEP QA/QC workgroup\, consisting of both environmental and laboratory professionals. Together\, they developed and provided a day-long training course to EPOC in May 2025. Workgroup members will serve as a panel for discussion and questions. \nWorkgroup members: \n\nTina Clemmey  Ensafe\nRebecca Merz – Phoenix Environmental Laboratories\, Inc.\nJeffrey Smith – Complete Environmental Testing\, Inc.\nKevin Vanderveer – CT DEEP\nChristina Venable – Loureiro Engineering\n\nDuring this lunch-and-learn\, DEEP will be presenting an abbreviated version of this training including: \n\nA review of the general concept of ensuring high data quality starting from initial investigation planning to field activities\, and finally\, to investigation reporting to DEEP.\nA review of the steps to conduct both the DQA and DUE.\n\nEnvironmental investigations conducted for the purpose of remediation activities require the use of laboratory analyses performed on environmental media to determine if remediation is needed. Because of the nature of environmental media\, limitations of analytical methods\, characteristics of analytes\, and human error\, the results of environmental analyses may contain an element of uncertainty and\, in some cases\, may be significantly biased. Therefore\, some analytical data may not be representative of the actual concentrations of the analytes in the environmental media. Evaluation of the quality of the analytical data in relation to its intended use is important\, and necessary\, for the environmental professional to make informed decisions that are supported by data of known and sufficient quality. \nEvaluation of data quality consists of a two-step process. The first step consists of an assessment of data quality. The second step is an evaluation to determine whether the data can be used to support the decisions that will be made using that data. Together these steps are referred to as Data Quality Assessment and Data Usability Evaluation. \nData Quality Assessment consists of the identification and summary of quality control non-conformances identified in the laboratory narrative provided to the data user. Data Usability Evaluation consists of the process to determine whether the data can be used to support the decisions that will be made using the acquired data. \nThis is an interactive program and there will be plenty of time for questions and answers. \nNon-members are invited to join the program as well for a registration fee of $15. If you join SWEP-CT prior to the event\, this fee will be waived. \nYou will receive the meeting log-in information with your registration confirmation. Please remember to copy the meeting log-in information into your calendar event reminder prior to the event.
