SUMMARY:ACT: Setting DEI Targets Without Discrimination
DESCRIPTION:When laying out DEI strategies\, most organizations rely on metrics and targets based entirely or primarily on representation (i.e.\, diversity). Aside from the difficulty of selecting meaningful targets\, this is a dangerous practice that can lead to internal backlash. \nThis webinar shows the importance of prioritizing equity and introduces a way of measuring equity that completely avoids the zero-sum game mindset that often leads to internal backlash. \nSpeaker Paolo Gaudiano \nA former tenured professor turned entrepreneur\, Paolo Gaudiano is Chief Scientist of Aleria\, President of ARC\, Adjunct at NYU Stern School of Business\, and Chairman of the annual Diversity & Inclusion Research Conference. \nPaolo is a regular Forbes contributor on DEI and author of the 2024 book Measuring Inclusion: Higher Profits and Happier People\, Without Guesswork or Backlash. He has published dozens of academic papers and over 100 blogs in major online publications and has been recognized with numerous awards\, including a Moonshot House Fellowship from the Kravis Center for Social Impact for his work on DEI.

SUMMARY:AESP CARE Book Club Series – Diversifying Power: Why We Need Antiracist\, Feminist Leadership on Climate Energy
DESCRIPTION:Diversifying Power: Why We Need Antiracist\, Feminist Leadership on Climate Energy (2020) is a nonfiction book by Jennie C. Stephens. \nDrawing on her experience as an educator\, social justice advocate\, energy expert and a sustainability science researcher\, she emphasizes that tackling the climate crisis means expanding who holds power and reimagining leadership to include a wider range of voices and perspectives. The common theme throughout the book is “all politics is now climate politics\, so all policies\, from housing to health\, now have to integrate climate resilience and renewable energy.” \n The book shares inspiring stories of diverse leaders who apply antiracial and feminine values to drive meaningful\, structural change.  It offers hope that\, with action\, the shift toward a just\, sustainable\, and equitable future is on the horizon. \nWe encourage you to purchase a copy of the book from your local independent bookstore\, bookshop.org—an online retailer which supports independent bookstores\, direct from the publisher  or to borrow a copy from the local library. If you are unable to obtain a copy of the book but are still interested in participating\, please reach out to Kristi Hewitt at kristi@thesharedspaceproject.org

SUMMARY:EBC: Seventh Annual New England Climate Change and Resiliency Summit & Poster Session
DESCRIPTION:It seems like every day there is news of a new climate record and unprecedented events. June 24\, 2025 was the hottest day for the month of June on record in Boston. New England has faced several major flooding events in 2024 and 2025\, including destructive flash floods in Vermont that washed out roads and required multiple water rescues\, and urban flooding in Massachusetts that shut down highways and inundated key infrastructure. These events are no longer outliers; they are becoming the new norm. How is New England addressing the rapidly changing climate? \nThe seventh annual EBC New England Climate Change and Resiliency Summit will bring together leaders from across the region to address that critical question: how do we prepare for the new norm? Each New England state is invited to discuss their programs and priorities for adaptation and resiliency and discuss among themselves and with attendees the challenges and opportunities. \nNew this year\, the Summit will also feature a poster session highlighting climate adaptation and resiliency plans and projects from across the New England region. The poster session offers a chance to explore on-the-ground initiatives\, share ideas\, and connect with practitioners and researchers leading innovative work to build climate resilience in their communities. \nFor those on the frontlines of adaptation and resiliency efforts\, the Summit is a forum to listen\, learn\, network\, and ask questions related to rapidly developing policy and programs connected to climate change. Attendees will leave the event invigorated by the community of professionals and the diverse ways New England is addressing the challenge of climate change.

SUMMARY:NECA: 2026 Power Markets Conference
DESCRIPTION:Wholesale power markets are at a crossroads. Climate goals are accelerating\, data centers are fueling unprecedented demand growth\, federal energy policy is shifting\, and rising costs are straining household budgets and business bottom lines alike. The fundamental question facing New England—and regions across the country—is how competitive markets can continue to deliver reliable\, affordable electricity amid these converging pressures. \nThe 2026 NECA Power Markets Conference brings together regulators\, policymakers\, and industry leaders for candid discussions about how markets and policy choices are shaping the balance between affordability\, reliability\, and decarbonization. Through three interconnected panels\, the conference will explore what’s driving electricity costs\, how market structures are adapting to resource adequacy challenges and surging demand\, and what it takes to attract investment for tomorrow’s grid. Join us for a day of forward-looking dialogue on how power markets can uphold their core strengths in a rapidly transforming energy landscape.
