We will learn how offshore wind energy is advancing from the State of Connecticut\, seCTer (Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise Region). seCTer is a finalist in Economic Development Administration (EDA)’s Build Back Better Regional Challenge! leading a coalition of economic development partners who are competing for up to $100 million to supercharge seCTer’s economy and the local\, regional\, and global offshore wind energy supply chain. \nYou will learn about lessons learned on legal strategies and best practices for consultants to build consensus with project stakeholders for the approval of State of Connecticut environmental permits based on experience with offshore wind projects. This short course will help to reduce the risks of permit delays with detailed record keeping practices\, and help you meet your project schedules. Strategies for permitting specialists to effectively defend permits from appeals will be reviewed. \nWe will report on progress on the Revolution Wind and Park City Wind farm and port developments. Revolution Wind\, a joint project between Ørsted and Eversource Energy\, includes 304 MW of renewable electricity for Connecticut and an estimated $77.5 million in port improvements in New London. Hear from the Connecticut Port Authority (CPA)\, the state’s quasi-public agency responsible for promoting and coordinating the development of the state’s ports and maritime industry and joint venture partners Ørsted and Eversource who are redeveloping the State Pier into a state-of-the-art port facility open for business in 2023.

She was one of the first women to be a project manager at the Electric Power Research Institute. She led projects in renewable and nuclear energy. In the past ten years\, she began to study and take part in grid oversight and governance. DESCRIPTION:Climate legislation codifying greenhouse gas reduction goals were passed at the federal\, state and local levels in 2021. In order to meet these ambitious goals\, new renewable energy sources and new energy infrastructure connecting renewable energy resources to the grid or supporting transitional electric generation are needed\, yet these infrastructure projects are meeting opposition. Natural gas pipelines also play a role in achieving a transition to a greater clean energy society. Recently\, the construction of the New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC) transmission line was halted after Maine voted against the corridor project in a referendum. Northern Pass\, another transmission project to tie clean energy from Canada to southern New England\, was similarly halted.
