SUMMARY:Greentown Labs' The Future of Offshore Wind: Innovation + Startup Showcase
DESCRIPTION:Join in celebrating the culmination of Go Energize 2023\, a Greentown Go startup-corporate partnerships accelerator program focused on decarbonizing our energy system\, in partnership with Vineyard Wind and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center. \nTogether\, the partners have supported five innovative startups in accelerating the commercialization of solutions including offshore wind turbine monitoring\, ecological data collection offshore\, and more. Attendees will hear the Go Energize 2023 cohort speak about their technologies and how these innovations will enable a sustainable and economically feasible offshore wind industry. \nA total of 40 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity is set to come online in the United States in the next decade. Cutting-edge technology is key for offshore wind energy projects to be developed in an environmentally responsible manner while also delivering electricity for consumers. Go Energize 2023 aims to reduce barriers to entry through industry education and relationship-building across relevant networks.

SUMMARY:Greentown Labs' Circular Economy in the Buildings Sector
DESCRIPTION:Join Greentown Labs to celebrate the kickoff of Go Build 2023\, a Greentown Go startup-corporate partnerships accelerator program focused on advancing circularity and decarbonization in the built environment\, in partnership with Saint-Gobain. \nAt this event\, attendees will hear lightning pitches from startup finalists in the buildings industry with innovations that extend product life cycles\, further develop raw materials\, revalorize waste\, or act as other enabling technologies. \nInnovation in the buildings sector is critical to achieving decarbonization. Buildings are responsible for 39 percent of CO2 emissions globally\, with a staggering 11 percent of global emissions coming from the construction of buildings and manufacturing of building materials. To change this\, we need innovations that reinvent how buildings and their materials are planned\, built\, sourced\, and managed.

SUMMARY:EBC Report-Out on the Recommendations of the Massachusetts Commission on Energy Infrastructure Siting and Permitting
DESCRIPTION:Join EBC for an opportunity to learn more about the recommendations of the Massachusetts Commission on Energy Infrastructure Siting and Permitting issued on March 29\, 2024. The Commission\, made up of a diverse membership of professionals and advocates invested in the Commonwealth’s clean energy transition goals\, was tasked with providing recommendations that will help reduce permitting timelines\, ensure communities have input in the siting and permitting of clean energy infrastructure\, and ensure that the benefits of a clean energy transition are shared equitably. The recommendations will provide an important resource to policy makers and state leadership in their work to implement the Commonwealth’s net zero goals. \nThis EBC “report-out” brings the Chair of Commission Michael Judge into the room to provide an overview of the Commission\, its processes and work\, as well as a review of the recommendations. Following Chair Judge’s overview\, a panel of Commission members will discuss the recommendations in more detail and answer audience questions. \nThis is a “can’t miss” lunchtime program for anyone interested in the clean energy transition. \nAbout the Commission on Energy Infrastructure Siting and Permitting \nThe Commission on Energy Infrastructure Siting and Permitting was established by Executive Order 620 in September 2023 and was tasked with reducing permitting timelines\, ensuring communities have input in the siting and permitting of clean energy infrastructure\, and ensuring that the benefits of the clean energy transition are shared equitably. \nThe Commission provided recommendations to the Governor on administrative\, regulatory\, and legislative changes to existing permitting and siting procedures on April 1\, 2024 [read the recommendations]. \nGeneral Continuing Education Certificates are awarded by the EBC for this program (1.5 training contact hours). Certificates are automatically provided via email link for registered attendees at the conclusion of the program. \nRegister Here: https://web.cvent.com/event/3658736e-4a9b-435d-8138-9e6aa291a91a/register

SUMMARY:Male Allies in the Energy Sector
DESCRIPTION:The energy sector has traditionally been male-dominated. In both developed and developing countries\, women are still outnumbered in technical\, and supervisory positions in utilities and other energy sector agencies. Women attempting to enter the energy sector continue to face barriers such as gender stereotypes and bias\, and a lack of training\, mentorship and networking. A lack of diversity can have harmful impacts. When only one group dominates planning and decision-making\, there is less innovation\, productivity\, and sustainability. There are\, however\, men in the energy sector who see equity and inclusion as not just a nice-to-have but a ‘must have\,’ and who champion improvements to workplace policies\, practices\, and culture to elevate women and eliminate negative gender stereotypes and behaviors. \nThe objective of this panel discussion is to highlight male champions for gender equality through their work in the energy sector across multiple countries worldwide. Panelists will share their personal experiences\, how they have tried to promote gender equality in their organizations and projects\, how this has led to better business outcomes\, any challenges they have encountered\, and their general advice. In late 2022\, CWEEL held a virtual discussion highlighting 4 male allies in the energy sector. This panel will feature another set of male allies representing various countries and energy organizations. \nClick here to register: https://aeecenter-org.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_4P3pZG0CQSSTTC2PI-SPZQ
