SUMMARY:Triumph Over Trauma: Thriving in a Turbulent World

The webinar will give you real-world tools to consider the challenges of the moment and move forward with peace and purpose. Facing the challenges may include an unexpected layoff\, assuming guardianship or the death of a family member\, unanticipated deployment\, workplace discrimination\, world events\, and other potentially life-changing events. \nWhat We’ll Explore: \n\nNavigating Modern Impacts: Understanding how collective\, individual\, ancestral\, and internalized oppression impact our daily energy.\nConfronting Fear Honestly: A look at what’s actually happening in the world without panic and learning to be a “warrior” in a way that feels safe for you. Acknowledging that we all have fears and that it is okay to not be “okay” all the time.\nThe Art of Sharing Hope: How to spread joy and stay optimistic without being “that annoying person” or ignoring reality.\nCreating Safe Harbors: How to be a safe space for others (and yourself) by meeting people exactly where they are.\n\nThis webinar isn’t about perfection; it’s about giving yourself permission to face challenges at your own pace and finding the quiet strength to choose how you can navigate life with confidence.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”27021″ img_size=”170×170″ style=”vc_box_shadow” css=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”5/6″][vc_column_text margin_bottom=”0″ css=”.vc_custom_1774726457435{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Laurel Bovin\nFounder\nFlux+Flow Professional Coaching \nLaurel Boivin is a leadership coach\, speaker\, and podcaster who helps high-performing professionals create more sustainable\, fulfilling ways to work and lead. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text margin_bottom=”0″ css=”.vc_custom_1778088993923{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]NEWIEE’s Western New England (WNE) chapter is excited to partner with Levo International\, a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to empowering people to end poverty through innovative\, simplified hydroponics. \nLast year\, Levo built a site producing 25\,000 pounds of fresh produce annually. This month\, they received another vacant lot in the North End of Hartford\, one of the most food-insecure areas in the United States. This new site will double the impact—producing 50\,000 pounds of fresh food for the community. \nWe’re looking for volunteers to support the build-out of these new hydroponic farms and help turn a vacant lot into a productive community hub. \nVolunteer activities may include: \n\nSanding and staining\nBuilding and assembling hydroponic frames\nLight construction and leveling\nMulching\, potting\, and seeding\n\nWhat to wear/bring: \n\nClothes you don’t mind getting dirty or stained\nClosed-toe shoes\nDress for the weather\nA reusable water bottle\n\n⚠️ Important: All volunteers will be required to sign a waiver as part of registration. \n👉 How to register: \nAfter registering with NEWIEE you will need to create a login on the Levo registration platform in addition. Once logged in\, you’ll be able to view the event under the NEWIEE group and complete your registration. \nJoin us for a hands-on day of service\, impact\, and community. We hope to see you there![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][mk_button size=”medium” url=”https://newiee.app.neoncrm.com/nx/portal/neonevents/events?path=%2Fportal%2Fevents%2F43771″ align=”center” margin_top=”30″ margin_bottom=”30″ margin_right=”30″]Registration Link[/mk_button][vc_empty_space height=”50″][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Kallman is a Democrat representing District 15 (Pawtucket\, Providence) in the Rhode Island Senate. \nShe served two terms on the Pawtucket City Council prior to being elected to the Senate in November 2020. During her time in the General Assembly\, Sen. Kallman has advanced legislation related to housing\, climate action\, transportation and other issues. \nIn 2023\, she sponsored two major new laws to address the state’s housing crisis. One will facilitate the conversion of empty buildings like mills and schools into housing. Another provides funding to support transit-oriented development\, the creation of mixed-use\, mixed-income housing around transit hubs. Given the number of old mill buildings in Pawtucket and Providence and the communities proximity to transit stations\, both cities are well positioned to take advantage of these laws to provide more housing. \nSen. Kallman also sponsored laws in 2023 to make birth control more available by allowing trained pharmacists to prescribe hormonal contraceptives and support workers by toughening penalties on wage theft and helped secure funding to keep the R-Line (RIPTA’s busiest bus route) free for all riders. She cosponsored the Equality in Abortion Coverage Act and a bill to expand solar development while protecting forests and rate payers. She was also honored as a 2023 Environmental Champion by Clean Water Action for her work protecting the environment. \nShe was the Senate sponsor of the Fair Housing Practices Act\, which bars housing discrimination against renters based on their source of income\, as well as a provision in the state budget creating Rhode Island’s first-ever permanent revenue stream to support affordable housing. She also sponsored legislation barring housing discrimination based on gender identity or expression. \nShe sponsored an amendment to the Rhode Island Whistle Blowers Protection Act to prohibit employers from reporting or threatening to report an employee’s immigration status for whistle-blowing. She introduced a successful resolution creating a study of how to reduce the number of women incarcerated in Rhode Island and proposed a bill that would make transportation on RIPTA buses free for all Rhode Islanders. \nSen. Kallman received the 2021 Pacesetter Award from the Women Legislators’ Lobby\, or WILL\, a program of Women’s Action for New Directions (WAND). She was among seven Pacesetters\, women state legislators nationwide who are leading the way in redirecting much-needed federal funds back to their constituents. \nSen. Kallman was born on Nov. 18\, 1983. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Smith College and went on to earn a Master’s Degree from the University of Chicago and a Doctorate from Brown University. She is a professor at the University of Massachusetts\, Boston. \nShe previously served on the State Housing Appeals Board\, the Pawtucket Juvenile Hearing Board and as a fellow with the Women’s Police Institute. She is a community organizer and founder of Crash Pawtucket\, a local business showcase.
