Northfield Mountain is New England’s largest energy storage facility – capable of powering more than 1 million homes for up to 7.5 hours each and every day. The “Mountain” stores energy in an upper pond that is then released through the station when electricity is needed most. \nFirstLight carefully manages over 14\,000 acres of land around their clean energy projects\, providing recreation and educational opportunities to visitors\, including hiking\, rock climbing\, fishing\, camping\, snow shoeing\, and other activities. Following the tour\, if conditions permit we hope you will stay to join the group for more networking on the trails! Trail Map Report \nPlease wear long pants and close-toed shoes. Come learn how anaerobic digesters are critical to achieving Connecticut’s goal of diverting 60% of food waste from the state’s garbage stream! \nAttendees are encouraged to BYOHVV (bring your own high vis vest) and wear appropriate footwear.
