SUMMARY:NECA's The Challenges to Achieving Climate Change and Energy Infrastructure Goals in New England: Different Perspectives
DESCRIPTION:Climate legislation codifying greenhouse gas reduction goals were passed at the federal\, state and local levels in 2021. In order to meet these ambitious goals\, new renewable energy sources and new energy infrastructure connecting renewable energy resources to the grid or supporting transitional electric generation are needed\, yet these infrastructure projects are meeting opposition. Natural gas pipelines also play a role in achieving a transition to a greater clean energy society. Recently\, the construction of the New England Clean Energy Connect (NECEC) transmission line was halted after Maine voted against the corridor project in a referendum. Northern Pass\, another transmission project to tie clean energy from Canada to southern New England\, was similarly halted. The slow advancement of offshore wind and certain resistance to solar projects are further complicating our ability to meet the energy goals that have been set for the period between 2030 and 2050. \nCome hear experts discuss their experiences and perspectives on siting new renewable and electric transmission facilities necessary to meet Climate Change goals. \nWednesday\, June 22\, 9-11 am\nModerator: Tracy Adamski\, Vice President\, Tighe & Bond\nPanel: Stakeholder Perspective\nCaitlin Peale Sloan\, Vice President for Massachusetts\, Conservation Law Foundation\nMegan Aconfora\, Public Involvement Specialist\, Burns & McDonnell\nJennie Chen\, Senior Manager\, Clean Energy\, World Resources Institute\nJanet Gail Besser\, Vice President\, Regulatory and Business Innovation\, Smart Electric Power Alliance \nThursday\, June 23\, 1-3 pm\nModerator: Will Dodge\, Partner & Practice Group Chair\, Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC\nPanel: Developer Perspective\nTJ Roskelley\, Partner\, Anderson & Kreiger LLP\nJoe Rossignoli\, Consultant\, Ross Emergent LLC\nRob Jackson\, Director – Solar/Storage Project Development\, Ameresco\nSteve Elliott\, Director – Business Development & Marketing\, Enbridge

Once considered a tool for assessing socially conscious investment\, ESG (Environment\, Social\, Governance) factors are now considered a critical tool to help assess and manage risk\, performance and impact. Increased activism in areas like climate change\, social and environmental justice\, and diversity\, equity\, and inclusion have shone a spotlight on the ESG practices of companies across the globe. \nJoin us at NEWIEE’s 2022 Women Shaping the Agenda event to learn how ESG practices and reporting have become a driver for positive change in energy and environment. Our panelists will discuss strategic considerations\, opportunities and challenges\, and lessons learned as companies work to minimize their impact on the climate and communities while continuing to deliver financially. \nPlease see below for important COVID-19 safety protocols for this event. \nYou are welcome to download any event photos linked at the button below. SUMMARY:WEN's I am the Master of my Fate
DESCRIPTION:Are Women Best Equipped to Lead the Energy Transition? \nAt WEN’s national conference in Forth Worth\, Jennifer explained why the oil and gas industry is currently living through an existential crisis – and\, posited that women are best equipped to lead us through it. Join WEN in Boston to dive deeper into challenges that surround the energy transition and tips (for women and men!) on navigating them within our own industries. \nThere is no market consensus on winning technologies for the hardest to abate sectors\, meanwhile even the ‘low hanging fruit’ comes with difficult implementation challenges. Importantly\, it all requires tremendous levels of spending and collaboration; solutions will likely test the limits of electrification\, local regulations\, and internal conflict. Where are we headed and how do we steer the ship?

SUMMARY:EBC 4th Annual New England Climate Change and Resiliency Summit
DESCRIPTION:Unprecedented policy\, regulatory\, and funding decisions related to how we address climate change are being made at the state and federal level.  Whether you are in the public sector\, work in industry\, or provide environmental consulting services\, climate change adaptation and mitigation impacts your work. The fourth annual EBC New England Climate Change and Resiliency Summit will provide an opportunity to learn how New England is addressing the challenges and opportunities associated with adapting to climate change and reducing vulnerability to climate change impacts\, working to meet state and federal greenhouse gas reduction goals\, and transitioning to a carbon-free economy.  For those in the environmental business community at the frontlines of adaptation and transition\, the Summit is a forum to listen\, learn\, network and ask questions related to rapidly developing policy and programs connected to climate change. \nRepresentatives from the six New England States will provide updates on their specific climate change plans\, program priorities\, and implementation strategies. The major focus will be on those key elements that are moving each state’s programs forward in preparation for the impact of climate change.
