SUMMARY:NEWEA's DEI 101 Webinar
DESCRIPTION:There are many reasons for individuals and organizations to gain a better understanding of issues related to diversity\, equity\, and inclusion (DEI). Because of the different natures of organizations\, there is not a one-size-fits-all program and/or approach to address and advance DEI issues. This DEI 101 webinar has been designed to raise awareness of DEI challenges and opportunities at the personal\, workplace\, and professional levels. Opportunities will be provided to attendees to engage in a dialogue on how we can advance DEI in our workplace and community.

SUMMARY:Green Energy Consumers Alliance's How to Advocate for EV Charging in your Community
DESCRIPTION:If you live in an apartment building or condo\, your ability to purchase an electric vehicle (EV) might be limited by lack of access to a charging station. Your building owner or homeowners association might say that not enough people want EV charging\, or that they lack the resources to start planning for EV charging. What can you do about it as a resident? This webinar will help you identify next steps and strategies to help get EV charging installation on the agenda for your building or homeowners association. The webinar will help you figure out whether other people in your community are interested in EVs\, how to start educating decision-makers about the benefits of EV charging\, and how to take advantage of the financial incentives that are available to install a station. With these resources\, you can start an important conversation and generate momentum to get your community onboard.

SUMMARY:EBC's A Great Bay Estuary Update: Permitting and Regulatory Impacts
DESCRIPTION:This EBC New Hampshire webinar will provide an overview and update on a new and cutting-edge NPDES General Permit that is likely to be used as model in the future for estuaries receiving effluent from multiple publicly owned treatment works (“POTW”).  The program will focus on the health of the Great Bay Estuary and the Great Bay Total Nitrogen General Permit issued in 2021 by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) in coordination with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (“NH DES”) and 13 POTWs that discharge to Great Bay.    The Total Nitrogen General Permit is the first of its kind in the New England Region and sets important goals for enhancing and restoring the health of the Great Bay Estuary.  This program will: (1) outline the current health of the Great Bay estuary\, (2) summarize the complex permitting aspects that regulate discharges into this unique Estuary of National Significance\, (3) discuss future State and federal permitting goals for the Estuary\, and (4) assess potential impacts that the new regulatory requirements have on local municipalities\, industries\, and businesses. \nDuring the program\, you will learn about the scientific\, legal\, and regulatory foundations of the General Permit and how it will be implemented.  You will hear different perspectives from the EPA\, NH DES\, the Conservation Law Foundation\, regulated municipalities\, and impacted businesses. \nA robust panel discussion with the audience will conclude the webinar.

SUMMARY:EBC's Solid Waste Management Webinar
DESCRIPTION:This EBC Solid Waste Management webinar will shed light on the economic\, social\, and technical tensions in the world of recycling.   How has the recycling infrastructure responded to market demand since China’s National Sword Policy?  Everyone focuses on diversion\, but what is the full diversion potential in the waste that remains?  When not all plastic can “close the loop”\, are pyrolysis and gasification the answer to making this material useful again? \nThis webinar will do a “dumpster dive” with experts on waste characterization\, waste ban compliance\, the overflow of plastic into our environment\, and the ways in which environmental justice is affecting recycling. The discussion will also share the social injustice and inequities in solid waste management in some communities.  Anyone who cares about recycling should attend this webinar! \nA robust panel discussion with the audience will conclude the webinar.

SUMMARY:EBC's Celebrating 50 Years of the US EPA
DESCRIPTION:Twenty-five years after the close of the Second World War\, U.S. industrial production was roaring and the country was growing without proper attention to waste streams. Smog\, acid rain\, polluted waters\, industrial sites\, and a distressed natural environment were impacting communities across the country. The Environmental Protection Agency was established in 1970 and the Clean Air Act passed that same year. Two years later\, the Clean Water Act was enacted. Through the past fifty years\, the emphasis and priorities of the EPA has morphed and each generation has “woken up” to the challenges of their day. \nThis EBC New Hampshire webinar will celebrate the accomplishments of the United States Environmental Protection Agency over the past half century and will look to the future of the agency and the work still to be done. \nA robust panel discussion with the audience will conclude the webinar.

SUMMARY:EBC's Future of Hydrogen – Moonshot Effort to Meet the Needs of Climate Change
DESCRIPTION:Is it possible to create hydrogen for $1/kw in a safe and economical way? Senator Kerry and the Biden Administration recently released a moonshot award to any company that can demonstrate the ability to create hydrogen for that amount in a safe and reliable method. \nThis EBC Energy Resources Webinar will address the issue of safety\, economics\, and deliverability. You will not want to miss this important discussion on the role of hydrogen in an effort to combat climate change. \nA robust panel discussion with the audience will conclude the webinar.

SUMMARY:EBC's Living with Heat – How Cool(ing) Things Can Help Us Thrive in the Future
DESCRIPTION:Urban man-made materials such as concrete or asphalt “store” heat during the day and slowly release it at night\, a phenomenon known as the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect. In contrast\, less built-up areas with added green spaces and trees provide cooling through evaporation and shade. Over the past decades\, our changing climate has led to increased temperatures and more frequent and severe heat waves. By 2070\, it is expected that Boston may experience up to 90 days of 90-degree F maximum daily air temperatures each summer. In combination with the UHI effect\, cities are slated to remain “hot spots” long after the sun has set if no additional opportunity for cooling is provided. \nThis EBC Climate Change webinar will inform about risks from increasing temperatures in cities\, discuss vulnerabilities such as health issues\, and address counter measures Boston and Cambridge have taken. Solutions span from raising awareness and education to implementation measures. Experts from Phoenix\, Arizona and Boston will address policy\, zoning\, and educational measures and share some of the tools they are developing to cool down entire neighborhoods\, (street) corridors\, and buildings. In addition to scalability of urban heat solutions\, our webinar will highlight a variety of different solutions and applications including robotics and infrared measures\, as well as Green Infrastructure measures and specific shade materials. \nA robust panel discussion with the audience will conclude the webinar.
