SUMMARY:Ready\, Set\, Scale. A NEEP Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:Northeast Market Assessment: Regional Heat Pump Trends \nNEEP’s recent Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) Northeast Market Assessment shows a strong and growing market for high-performing air source heat pump equipment in the Northeast. ASHP sales across New England and New York have grown nearly 400 percent over an eight-year period. Across the broader Northeast region (New England and Mid-Atlantic states)\, the report estimates that ASHPs represent 32 percent of the residential HVAC equipment market (market includes annual sales of ASHPs\, furnaces\, boilers\, and central air-conditioners). Factors driving recent growth include expansion of energy efficiency programs and shifts in state-level policies. \nThis webinar will discuss the state of the market and how the region can leverage its existing infrastructure to double down on that progress and grow the market even further. NEEP will share best practice guides that outline effective strategies for mid-stream program design and implementation\, workforce development\, and co-promotion of weatherization with heat pump technologies. \nThe Ready\, Set\, Scale. webinar series focuses on the key mechanisms to accelerate energy efficiency\, electrification\, grid flexibility\, and workforce development to lower energy bills\, improve air quality\, and build an affordable\, sustainable\, resilient energy future. Join us all year long for discussions\, analysis\, and peer learning around collaborative\, multi-state approaches to transform the energy efficiency market.

SUMMARY:2024 Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings is the 23rd biennial event. Summer Study will bring together professionals from around the globe to the Asilomar Conference Grounds to collaborate\, debate and advance the technologies\, practices and research necessary to equitably decarbonize the building sector in a manner that addresses the urgency of the climate crisis. \nThe 2024 theme is Equity and Climate Action: Time to Deliver. In August 2022\, Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA)\, an unprecedented investment to transform our built environment and electricity sector to be safer and healthier\, reducing carbon emissions and prioritizing the needs of underserved communities. At the same time\, climate crisis is now a reality and is becoming more urgent and critical by the day. The Rhodium Group estimates that greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the US increased by 1.3% in 2022. While emissions from the electric power sector decreased in 2022\, outside of the power sector\, emissions increased slightly. The most significant increase was seen in direct emissions from buildings\, which rose by 6% and was the only sector to rebound to pre-pandemic levels. This is our opportunity to right the ship\, take advantage of this critical moment in history and identify the innovations that will deliver climate justice through deep emissions reductions in our buildings.

SUMMARY:NEEP's Crafting Building Energy Performance Standards
DESCRIPTION:Crafting a Building Energy Performance Standard from the Ground Up \nHow are cities planning to achieve their climate goals? Policymakers tasked with delivering greenhouse gas emissions reductions from buildings need innovative solutions. One such strategy – Building Energy Performance Standards (BEPS) – is quickly becoming a top priority for cities and states. A great example of this innovative approach is the BEPS program in Washington D.C. which sets a minimum level of energy performance for various property types and requires buildings under that threshold to meet the established standard. This webinar will provide insights into the process behind D.C.’s efforts to develop and implement a BEPS program. Additionally\, the EPA will share new resources to assist jurisdictions set up BEPS programs. Join NEEP to learn how to craft innovative programs that help achieve our shared climate goals.
