SUMMARY:WRISE's What the Buzz? - Beyond MWhs - Honey Bees\, Climate Justice and Emissionality
DESCRIPTION:The race towards Net-Zero or Carbon Neutrality by 2050 is underway. Many corporations are now seeking to connect and integrate specific United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their energy procurement decisions. They are rethinking what makes a project the “best” project to account for avoided emissions\, social & environment justice\, supply chain sourcing\, and local impact. Additionally\, most off-takers to date have tackled scope 2 emissions (purchased electricity and heat) via PPAs/ VPPAs. Yet scope 3 emissions (generated by suppliers and customers) constitute the largest source of corporate’s emissions\, which will be their next challenge to tackle.

SUMMARY:WRISE's Equitable Access in Clean Energy - Policy Equity
DESCRIPTION:Policy can create a more level playing field when it comes to ensuring that the benefits of clean energy are shared by all. In addition to other clean energy policy considerations – i.e. community benefits agreements\, federal clean energy standard – policy that centers on economic inequality can promote and ensure equitable access. Join WRISE as the panel discusses how policy can help create a more equitable energy future. \n\nSpeakers: \nModerator: Nicole Sitaraman\, Vice President\, Strategic Engagement – Sustainable Capital Advisors \nPaula Garcia\, Senior Bilingual Energy Analyst – Union of Concerned Scientists \nDana Harmon\, Executive Director – Texas Energy Poverty Research Institute \nNicole Steele\, Energy Justice & Workforce – U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)

SUMMARY:WRISE's Equitable Access in Clean Energy - Finance Equity
DESCRIPTION:Financing is a significant barrier to clean energy adoption in underserved and lower income communities. Exploring collaborative financing partnerships and incentives\, as well as alternative clean energy deployment models can address existing gaps. Partnerships among a variety of financial institutions\, clean energy developers and operators\, and other stakeholders – can help advance a more equitable clean energy transition. Up-front financial investment is also a barrier to the deployment of clean energy in underserved and low-income communities. One way to mitigate the affordability and accessibility challenge in clean energy deployment\, is to explore emerging models – i.e. community solar – that pool the resources of multiple community members\, allowing participants to purchase more affordable renewable energy. \n\nSpeakers: \nModerator: Elizabeth Kaiga\, Managing Director\, Global Strategic Accounts – DNV \nKristal Hansley\, Founder and CEO – WeSolar \nLauren Randall\, Director of Policy and Market Development – Sunrun \nLan Sasa\, Vice President\, Renewable Energy Investments – US Bank
