DESCRIPTION:To kick off 2023\, Out in Energy is delighted to invite you to a hybrid event featuring The Hon. Shawn Skelly\, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Readiness\, and The Hon. Joe Bryan\, Chief Sustainability Officer at the Department of Defense. During this exciting event\, participants will discuss the intersection of climate action\, clean energy\, resilience\, and the US armed forces. The US military is the largest consumer of energy in the United States; how is the Department of Defense working to create a greener\, more adaptive military that is ready to face the impacts of climate change? How are they leading the charge to electrify and decarbonize? And what role will diversity and inclusion for queer people at DoD continue to play 10+ years after the repeal of Don’t Ask\, Don’t Tell. \nThis event will take place Thursday\, January 26 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM ET at Atlantic Council Headquarters in downtown Washington\, DC. \nThis event is part of a series of Out in Energy engagements designed to inform network members on key energy trends and policies\, connect people across the LGBTQI+ community working in energy and climate\, and raise overall visibility for LGBTQI+ people working in these fields. \nTo attend\, please RSVP by emailing Zack Strauss at zstrauss@atlanticcouncil.org. In your RSVP\, please let Zach know if you would like to participate in person or virtually.
