He has unique expertise in creating and operating Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs) — best-in-class workforce initiatives overseen by the US Department of Labor. She most recently served as the Assistant Executive Director of GreenRoots\, a community-based organization dedicated to improving and enhancing the urban environment and public health in Chelsea. The city has some of the worst air pollution in the state\, predisposing residents to higher rates of cardiovascular disease and respiratory ailments\, including some of the highest rates of COVID-19 of any Massachusetts community. Power oversaw GreenRoots’ environmental justice campaigns and supported the work of the organizing team. She was appointed by President Biden to serve on the newly established White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council. She is responsible for advancing clean technologies within the Eversource gas business portfolio to help achieve Eversource’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2030\, as well as supporting required statewide emissions reductions in Connecticut and Massachusetts. \nAs part of her role\, Nikki evaluates the feasibility of clean technologies\, such as renewable natural gas\, geothermal energy\, methane reduction and hydrogen\, and manages the development and execution of projects incorporating those clean technologies. She plays a lead role in policy efforts regarding the future of natural gas and other strategic initiatives that help Eversource provide safe\, reliable\, and clean energy to meet its customers’ needs. In addition\, Nikki oversees marketing\, customer connections\, and major account management across Eversource’s gas business\, which includes traditional and clean technology offerings. Prior to this role\, Nikki was Eversource’s Director of Clean Technologies. \nBefore joining Eversource\, Nikki was a Project Director of Business Development for Enbridge. She was responsible for the development of new natural gas transmission ventures\, services\, and related energy projects in the Northeast region. She also managed the Enbridge commercial relationship with National Grid. These include projects associated with aquatic and terrestrial habitat connectivity\, insect population declines\, policy review and advocacy\, and most frequently these days – projects associated with renewable energy. As the lead author on Maine Audubon’s 2019 publication\, Renewable Energy and Wildlife in Maine\, she had an opportunity to dive into the literature to help the public understand the potential impacts to wildlife and their habitats from the siting\, construction\, and operations of renewable energy infrastructure as well as impact avoidance techniques. She also oversaw the development of Maine Audubon’s Renewable Energy Siting Tool which aims to provide resources developers and decision-makers the information they need to locate solar and land-based wind projects in areas that avoid or minimize negative impacts to important wildlife habitats. She was a member of the state’s Environment and Wildlife Working Group for the Maine Offshore Wind Initiative and currently sits on the Advisory Board for the Maine Offshore Wind Research Consortium. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowdoin College with a major in biology\, and a Master of Science degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation from the University of Maine in Amherst. Presenters will discuss how energy monitoring systems and load management tools can enhance the electrification experience by reducing peak loads and improving grid reliability. Participants will also explore strategies for partial electrification in low-income households\, ensuring equitable access to energy-efficient technologies. Through real-world examples and data on consumer behavior\, attendees will gain actionable strategies to optimize the electrification process\, improve communication\, and support clean energy access across diverse populations.\n\n\n\nModerator\n\n\n\n\n\nCaroline Carl\nHawaii Energy\, Leidos \n\nAs Hawai‘i Energy’s Deputy Director\, Caroline oversees the detailed planning and execution of a range of energy efficiency programs helping Hawai‘i families and businesses save money and make smart energy choices. She is responsible for the design of Hawai‘i Energy’s new energy optimization initiatives targeting peak demand reduction and load flexibility. As part of this work she spearheads a number of collaborative planning efforts with key industry stakeholders supporting the adoption of clean energy technologies. Caroline also directs the market transformational program which is designed to provide education and enable behavioral transformation that will lead to energy savings in future years. \nCaroline has been extensively involved in energy research initiatives in Hawai‘i for the past 15 years\, designing and developing programs\, and managing community outreach activities. She currently serves as Board President for the Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) and has been a Board member of the Hawai‘i Solar Energy Association (HSEA) since 2018. DESCRIPTION:SWEP-CT invites its members to attend a lunch-and-learn session with Mark Latham of CTDEEP and his team on the New Underground Storage Tank (UST) Regulations on July 23\, 2025 from 11:30 a.m. to approximately 12:45 p.m. The UST Regulations\, RCSA sections 22a-449(d)-1 and 22a-449(d)-101 to 22a-449(d)-114\, inclusive\, identify the performance standards for owners and operators of state regulated and federally regulated UST systems. The updated UST regulations modernize and update the UST regulations by adding clarity\, consistency\, and flexibility. These updates are consistent with current technologies and eliminate outdated standards. She was appointed by President Biden to serve on the newly established White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council. As the lead author on Maine Audubon’s 2019 publication\, Renewable Energy and Wildlife in Maine\, she had an opportunity to dive into the literature to help the public understand the potential impacts to wildlife and their habitats from the siting\, construction\, and operations of renewable energy infrastructure as well as impact avoidance techniques. She also oversaw the development of Maine Audubon’s Renewable Energy Siting Tool which aims to provide resources developers and decision-makers the information they need to locate solar and land-based wind projects in areas that avoid or minimize negative impacts to important wildlife habitats. She was a member of the state’s Environment and Wildlife Working Group for the Maine Offshore Wind Initiative and currently sits on the Advisory Board for the Maine Offshore Wind Research Consortium. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowdoin College with a major in biology\, and a Master of Science degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation from the University of Maine in Amherst. DESCRIPTION:Join a training course for evaluation practitioners on the purpose\, process and key considerations in benefit-cost analysis (BCA) — also referred to as “cost-effectiveness testing” — of single and multiple distributed energy resource (DER) investments. DERs can include energy efficiency\, demand response\, distributed storage and solar\, and building and transportation electrification. The city has some of the worst air pollution in the state\, predisposing residents to higher rates of cardiovascular disease and respiratory ailments\, including some of the highest rates of COVID-19 of any Massachusetts community. Power oversaw GreenRoots’ environmental justice campaigns and supported the work of the organizing team. She was appointed by President Biden to serve on the newly established White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council. She plays a lead role in policy efforts regarding the future of natural gas and other strategic initiatives that help Eversource provide safe\, reliable\, and clean energy to meet its customers’ needs. Prior to this role\, Nikki was Eversource’s Director of Clean Technologies. \nBefore joining Eversource\, Nikki was a Project Director of Business Development for Enbridge. She was responsible for the development of new natural gas transmission ventures\, services\, and related energy projects in the Northeast region. She also managed the Enbridge commercial relationship with National Grid. As the lead author on Maine Audubon’s 2019 publication\, Renewable Energy and Wildlife in Maine\, she had an opportunity to dive into the literature to help the public understand the potential impacts to wildlife and their habitats from the siting\, construction\, and operations of renewable energy infrastructure as well as impact avoidance techniques. She also oversaw the development of Maine Audubon’s Renewable Energy Siting Tool which aims to provide resources developers and decision-makers the information they need to locate solar and land-based wind projects in areas that avoid or minimize negative impacts to important wildlife habitats. She was a member of the state’s Environment and Wildlife Working Group for the Maine Offshore Wind Initiative and currently sits on the Advisory Board for the Maine Offshore Wind Research Consortium. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowdoin College with a major in biology\, and a Master of Science degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation from the University of Maine in Amherst. As the lead author on Maine Audubon’s 2019 publication\, Renewable Energy and Wildlife in Maine\, she had an opportunity to dive into the literature to help the public understand the potential impacts to wildlife and their habitats from the siting\, construction\, and operations of renewable energy infrastructure as well as impact avoidance techniques. She also oversaw the development of Maine Audubon’s Renewable Energy Siting Tool which aims to provide resources developers and decision-makers the information they need to locate solar and land-based wind projects in areas that avoid or minimize negative impacts to important wildlife habitats. She was a member of the state’s Environment and Wildlife Working Group for the Maine Offshore Wind Initiative and currently sits on the Advisory Board for the Maine Offshore Wind Research Consortium. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowdoin College with a major in biology\, and a Master of Science degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation from the University of Maine in Amherst. DESCRIPTION:Large scale data centers are planned for numerous locations in New England\, including facilities in Westfield\, MA and Waterford\, CT\, with estimates of up to 35 gigawatts installed nationally by 2030. This joint EBC Energy Resources Committee and EBC Climate Change Committee webinar will explore the real-world impacts of data centers upon the transmission grid\, sustainability and New England State climate goals\, cities and towns\, and ratepayers\, and consider what comes next. \nIs the current transmission grid robust enough to serve these facilities?\nHow can data center power demand be resolved in line with New England State climate goals?\nWhat are the best practices to forecast\, plan\, and mitigate power demand at these facilities\, especially during periods of peak demand?\nWill cities and towns allow large data centers in their communities?\nThese questions will be discussed by presenters\, with robust opportunity for audience Q&A. \nGeneral Continuing Education Certificates are awarded by the EBC for this program (3.0 training contact hours). She most recently served as the Assistant Executive Director of GreenRoots\, a community-based organization dedicated to improving and enhancing the urban environment and public health in Chelsea. The city has some of the worst air pollution in the state\, predisposing residents to higher rates of cardiovascular disease and respiratory ailments\, including some of the highest rates of COVID-19 of any Massachusetts community. Power oversaw GreenRoots’ environmental justice campaigns and supported the work of the organizing team. She was appointed by President Biden to serve on the newly established White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council. She plays a lead role in policy efforts regarding the future of natural gas and other strategic initiatives that help Eversource provide safe\, reliable\, and clean energy to meet its customers’ needs. In addition\, Nikki oversees marketing\, customer connections\, and major account management across Eversource’s gas business\, which includes traditional and clean technology offerings. Prior to this role\, Nikki was Eversource’s Director of Clean Technologies. \nBefore joining Eversource\, Nikki was a Project Director of Business Development for Enbridge. She was responsible for the development of new natural gas transmission ventures\, services\, and related energy projects in the Northeast region. She also managed the Enbridge commercial relationship with National Grid. As the lead author on Maine Audubon’s 2019 publication\, Renewable Energy and Wildlife in Maine\, she had an opportunity to dive into the literature to help the public understand the potential impacts to wildlife and their habitats from the siting\, construction\, and operations of renewable energy infrastructure as well as impact avoidance techniques. She also oversaw the development of Maine Audubon’s Renewable Energy Siting Tool which aims to provide resources developers and decision-makers the information they need to locate solar and land-based wind projects in areas that avoid or minimize negative impacts to important wildlife habitats. She was a member of the state’s Environment and Wildlife Working Group for the Maine Offshore Wind Initiative and currently sits on the Advisory Board for the Maine Offshore Wind Research Consortium. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowdoin College with a major in biology\, and a Master of Science degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation from the University of Maine in Amherst.
