In 2022\, she became the state’s first woman and first openly LGBTQ person elected to the position. \nIn her first year as Governor\, Healey has already delivered on key promises to help Massachusetts become a leader in clean energy\, a more affordable and equitable place to live\, and a great place for businesses to operate. \nOn her first day in office\, Governor Healey appointed the nation’s first cabinet-level Climate Chief and created the Office of Climate Innovation & Resilience to coordinate policies across all of state government to address the climate crisis. Governor Healey has also prioritized education and workforce development by making free school meals for K-12 students permanent and creating a free community college program for residents ages 25 and older. She has made historic investments in apprenticeships and other career pathways. Governor Healey also delivered on her promise to make Massachusetts more affordable by cutting taxes for the first time in 20 years\, including creating the most generous Child and Family Tax Credit in the county. Her tax cuts package puts money back into the pockets of families\, renters\, seniors and others who are struggling to keep up with the rising cost of living. She also recently introduced the $4 billion Affordable Homes Act\, which would be the state’s largest housing investment in history\, to create tens of thousands of homes and lower costs. \nHealey previously served two terms as Massachusetts Attorney General\, first elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. In her role as the People’s Lawyer\, she took on difficult issues impacting Massachusetts residents\, including the opioid epidemic\, the climate crisis\, escalating health care costs\, and student loan debt. Earlier in her career\, Healey was a litigation partner at an international law firm. \nHealey grew up the oldest of five siblings in an old New England farmhouse. She and her siblings were raised by their mother\, Tracy\, who worked as a nurse at the local elementary school. Her stepfather\, Edward\, who later joined the family\, was a teacher and local union president. He coached her high school basketball team and instilled a lifelong love of the sport. Healey attended Harvard College\, where she captained the basketball team\, and then spent two years as a 5’4” starting point guard on a professional basketball team in Austria. \nFor much of her career\, she’s been the only woman in the room and has taken every opportunity to elevate other women. Lissette is able to communicate with colleagues skillfully and thoughtfully at all levels of the business as well as\, customers and stakeholders from a broad range of communities in Connecticut and beyond. \nLissette has taken the time not only to understand the particular position she holds\, but to understand all areas of the company and who the subject-matter experts are. As a result\, when situations occur or problems arise that Lissette or one of her colleagues may not be able to address themselves\, she knows who to contact to make progress. While in office\, she led the bicameral Clean Energy Caucus\, was the Massachusetts state lead for the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators where she also served on the board\, and was the only state legislator on the U.S. EPA Clean Air Act Advisory Committee. She also served on faculty at Tufts University’s School of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy\, bringing her expertise in energy policy to graduate students. Prior to her election in 2018\, Maria led Advanced Energy Economy’s Wholesale Markets Program\, including engagement at FERC and the regional transmission organizations. \nPreviously\, she focused on regulatory issues relating to energy and air\, including a 27-state campaign with Governors’ offices\, legislatures\, and energy and environmental regulators. She also managed AEE’s report development and data-driven analysis at both the state and national level. Collectively\, these three Bureaus are charged with protecting and enhancing Connecticut’s air\, water and land. She is responsible for overseeing all general operations including the electricity and natural gas programs\, human resources\, finance\, and administration\, as well as leading the new product area of sustainability advisory. Meg is entrusted with the relationships of PowerOptions’ largest non-profit\, municipality\, and state agency Members who depend on her for their overall energy planning and procurement. She is also responsible for PowerOptions significant expansion into Rhode Island and Connecticut. \nPrior to joining PowerOptions\, Meg served as Acting Commissioner at the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER)\, overseeing the development and implementation of state energy policies and programs related to energy efficiency\, renewable energy\, and energy markets. During her tenure as Commissioner\, she served as the Administration’s lead on a study addressing the natural gas pipeline capacity serving Massachusetts. Prior to becoming the Commissioner\, Meg was the initial architect\, implementer\, and eventual leader of DOER’s Green Communities Division\, a first-in-the-nation program serving Massachusetts municipalities on all their energy issues\, helping them to save energy and reduce costs. Governor Ned Lamont nominated Gillett to begin serving on the three member regulatory authority on April 26\, 2019\, and her appointment was confirmed by both the House of Representatives and State Senate in the 2019 session of the Connecticut General Assembly. \nGillett serves as one of Connecticut’s representatives on the Board of Directors of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative\, Inc. (RGGI). \nPrior to her appointment\, Gillett was the Vice President of External Relations for the Energy Storage Association – the national trade association representing the energy storage industry. In that role\, Gillett served on the association’s executive team\, contributing to the organization’s overall strategic vision and direction\, as well as providing leadership of the research\, educational programming and events\, marketing\, and communications teams. \nFrom 2011 to 2018\, Gillett worked at the Maryland Public Service Commission\, an independent agency within the Maryland state government that regulates public utilities\, where she most recently served as the senior advisor to the chairman. In her current role\, she serves as a project manager and manages the eight mechanical and electrical engineers within her team. Keirstan worked as an engineer and project manager for a utility company before coming to Petersen. Baker served as an Air Force officer prior to her honorable discharge pursuant to the then existing “Don’t Ask\, Don’t Tell” policy\, and became a vocal advocate for repeal of the policy.
