New England Region 50th Earth Day Challenge
New England Women in Energy and Environment (NEWIEE) invites you to join us for a regional 50th celebration of Earth Day Challenge #earthday50ne. In conjunction with the 22 days of earth day challenges worldwide, we have teamed up with local New England energy and environment organizations. We may be physically separated, but we can all act together to celebrate!
SIGN UP BY APRIL 17th
If your organization wants to participate, please email your interest, and your organization’s logo, to newiee@newiee.org by 5 pm on April 17th. Through subsequent outreach, we will share the logos of all organization participants involved in the challenge.
THE PRIZE
The winner of our New England Region 50th Earth Day Challenge will have 50 trees planted in their organization’s honor by Growahead.org; supporting a woman-led reforestation project in Peru.
NEWIEE’S VISION FOR THIS CHALLENGE
NEWIEE’s vision for this challenge is to bring New England energy and environment organizations and their members together for a fun competition, while supporting actions to address climate change.
GAME DATES
NEWIEE’s earth day challenge will run Sunday, April 19th to Tuesday, April 21st. On Wednesday, April 22nd (Earth Day) we will post a compilation of the most eye-catching entries.
HOW TO PLAY
Earn points for your organization by creatively commenting on the three days of NEWIEE’s challenge Twitter posts with your content & visuals plus THREE hashtags:
- your organization (ex. #NEWIEE)
- the NEWIEE challenge hashtag (#earthday50ne) AND
- the general earth day hashtag #earthday2020
The first organization to 50 points (celebrating 50 years) wins the challenge!
POINT SYSTEM:
Each day we are looking for participants from each organization to take the time to post specifically about how they are celebrating Earth Day. It’s a race of member against member to earn the most points for their organization’s team. Each day we will tally the total points and notify you which organization won for that day. Likes and Retweets are appreciated, but don’t count as points. Only one post per day per person.

What if I am a member of more than one of the organizations playing?
Comment for each organization over the three days. Only one post per day counts. Only one organization hashtag per post.
What should I post about?
ANYTHING related to what you are doing for or reflecting on in the run up to Earth day!
- Are you doing a neighborhood clean up? Take a photo and post it.
- Did you write a poem about earth day? Post it!
- Is your company doing something for earth day? Tell us about it!
