A New Chapter for NEWIEE
Every year at NEWIEE brings new faces, new ideas, and new momentum, and this year builds on that progress in exciting ways. Today, we’re proud to share our 2025 Annual Report, a reflection of the milestones, growth, and community-led impact made possible by our members, volunteers, partners, and sponsors across New England.
This year marked the completion of NEWIEE’s 2025-2029 strategic plan. After a comprehensive planning process that included reflecting on NEWIEE’s history, listening to our members and volunteers, and envisioning what our next chapter should look like, the NEWIEE Board of Directors established the following strategic priorities:
- Continue our mission-critical work of empowering women+ in energy and the environment through programs that support leaders at every career stage
- Deepen community-building, connection, and collaboration
- Invest in organizational sustainability so NEWIEE can serve its members for years to come
One of the most significant steps toward these goals is welcoming our first Executive Director, Kate P. Johnson. Her leadership marks the next chapter in NEWIEE’s evolution. With Kate at the helm, in partnership with myself, our Board and dedicated volunteer leaders, NEWIEE is well-positioned to enrich our programming, strengthen our community, and deepen our impact for even more women+ across New England.
Honoring Our Legacy As we Step into the Future
More than 15 years ago, a group of visionary women leaders came together to create NEWIEE, a space where women+ in energy and the environment could connect, learn, lead, and champion one another. That founding spirit
still powers our work today, and it’s more important than ever.
As our membership has grown, so has our commitment to elevating underrepresented voices and building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce in the energy and environmental sectors. More than anything, this report tells the story of our vibrant community. NEWIEE works because of the people who show up every day for our mission—all the volunteers, mentors, speakers, sponsors, partners, and members who bring their ideas, energy,
time, passion, and generosity to the table.
