WRISE’s Equitable Access in Clean Energy – Finance Equity

Financing is a significant barrier to clean energy adoption in underserved and lower income communities. Exploring collaborative financing partnerships and incentives, as well as alternative clean energy deployment models can address existing gaps. Partnerships among a variety of financial institutions, clean energy developers and operators, and other stakeholders – can help advance a more equitable clean energy transition. Up-front financial investment is also a barrier to the deployment of clean energy in underserved and low-income communities. One way to mitigate the affordability and accessibility challenge in clean energy deployment, is to explore emerging models – i.e. community solar – that pool the resources of multiple community members, allowing participants to purchase more affordable renewable energy.
