NEWIEE 2024 Mentorship Program

Matching

NEWIEE seeks to create a cohort that includes women with a variety of career paths (e.g., women in the trades, engineering, energy development, sales, energy policy, environmental) as well as a racially diverse group. NEWIEE will create mentor-mentee pairs, and will launch the interactions with guidance for the participants to follow in late May. NEWIEE will send an email introduction to mentorship pairs to open the dialogue between the two parties.

Important Requirements

Potential mentees must be members of NEWIEE.
If you are matched in this round, we will ask you to sign a Statement of Intent indicating that you are voluntarily seeking a mentoring relationship, are willing to commit 10 hours to develop the relationship over the 6-month program, and at the end of the program, you will fill out the NEWIEE Questionnaire to provide feedback to the Mentorship Committee.

Mentoring

To get the most out of this experience, NEWIEE recommends that mentorship pairs meet within the first month of the program. Mentorship pairs should then arrange future calls, a minimum of monthly, to discuss and work on the mentee’s goals. THE MENTEE IS EXPECTED TO DRIVE THE RELATIONSHIP, being proactive about her needs, and always scheduling the next call/meeting so that the mentoring relationship builds momentum and does not stall out.

NEWIEE is not responsible for the success of a mentorship pairing, as each pair will have different needs and objectives. The Mentorship Program suggests that participants continue to engage within the suggested timeline of June – November 2024, and may continue beyond that time, if they mutually agree. NEWIEE will ask for the completion of the Questionnaire in December 2024, whether the relationship continues or not.

Mentorship Matchup Timeline

• February 6 – March 6: Women indicate their willingness to mentor.
• April 2 – April 19: Potential mentees complete a short online application form.
• Early May: The NEWIEE Mentor-Mentee Matchups Subcommittee assigns mentors to mentees.
• Late May: Mentorship Program assignments confirmed via email introduction from NEWIEE.
• June to November: Mentorship pairs independently arrange their meetings and communications.
• Early December: Return the Questionnaire to the Subcommittee to provide feedback on your experience. NEWIEE Mentorship Matchup Program wraps up.
