What a Year!

In Letters from the President, NEWIEE Blog

Have you ever had a year where you looked back in amazement at all that had been accomplished? 2023 was that year for NEWIEE. In 2023, NEWIEE:

  • awarded its inaugural DEI Founders’ Awards for individual achievement to Donna Daniels, Chief People & Diversity Officer at Ceres, and for organizational achievement to All In Energy
  • launched a Peer Circles program
  • expanded its Mentorship and Rising Professionals programs
  • held its first Women Shaping the Agenda in New Hampshire and its first event in Vermont
  • held events in all six New England states for the first time in its history

Additional information about these and NEWIEE’s other achievements are available in the NEWIEE 2023 Annual Report.

At the end of last year, NEWIEE welcomed a new Association Manager – Leora Mallach. Leora brings a wealth of experience in the nonprofit sector that will help NEWIEE continue to advance its mission.

NEWIEE also held its first fundraising campaign with incredible success – an anonymous donor matched all donations that NEWIEE earned in 2023 with a donation of $15,000! Thank you to everyone who donated. Your support will help NEWIEE continue to further its mission of elevating the voices of the underrepresented and driving greater diversity, equity, and inclusion in the energy and environmental fields.

As we look ahead to this year, NEWIEE is thrilled to announce

  • the same donor has generously agreed to match all donations that NEWIEE earns in 2024, up to $10,000
  • NEWIEE will begin undertaking the work necessary to help it build the capacity to create a fellowship program that will seek to train women in climate-critical occupations, match selected individuals with organizations operating in the clean energy industry, and establish partnerships with organizations to engage more diverse women

None of NEWIEE’s success would be possible without the generous and unwavering support of our Board of Directors, association management team, members, sponsors, volunteers, partners and supporters. Thank you!

We’re excited to see what we can accomplish together in the upcoming year!
