Offshore Wind Policy Panel – Meeting New England’s Energy Needs

November 12 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

New England for Offshore Wind (NE4OSW) and the League of Conservation Voters will host an offshore wind policy panel in Rye, New Hampshire on November 12th with a focus on how current offshore wind projects are reducing energy costs, sparking economic development, creating jobs and strengthening national security.

Offshore wind is clean, affordable, and reliable energy operating just off our New England coast. It provides thousands of jobs for New England residents, powers our residences and businesses with home grown electrons, and lowers harmful carbon emissions. Offshore wind is playing a key role in ensuring the reliability of our regional electric grid and contributing to our national security. Our region is now an offshore wind leader with two projects delivering hundreds of megawatts of energy to the grid, the Vineyard Wind project in Massachusetts waters and the Revolution Wind Project off the coast of Rhode Island. Looking ahead, the future deployment of offshore wind projects in the Gulf of Maine will continue to position the New England region to be able to meet increased energy needs.

Panelists:

  • John Szoka, CEO of the Conservative Energy Network
  • Stephanie Francour, Senior Vice President of Communications & External Affairs, Oceantic Network
  • Dave Belote, Col. (Ret), USAF, Managing Partner & CEO, Dare Strategies LLC
  • Matt Glavin, Business Agent, Ironworkers Local 7

Program Moderator: Katie Segal, Senior Director of Offshore Wind, Environmental League of Massachusetts
