NEWEA: Poo & Brew Networking
Join young professionals in the water quality industry!
The New Bedford Wastewater Treatment Facility is a 30-acre activated sludge facility with biological secondary treatment, located at the southernmost point of the New Bedford South End Peninsula. The facility is adjacent to the Municipal Fort Tabor Park and is located at 1000 South Rodney French Blvd. The facility includes rag and grit removal, primary treatment, secondary biological treatment, and disinfection by chlorination and dechlorination. It is designed to treat an average daily flow of 30 MGD, with a peak hydraulic design flow of 75 MGD. The facility disposes of approximately 6,000 dry tons of biosolids annually. The tour will be followed by a networking event at Cisco Brewers New Bedford. The brewery is less than 5 minutes from the New Bedford Wastewater Treatment Facility and offers great variety of amazing beers and food. It also offers two patios and a roof top bar. Tour Requirement: We would ask that all participants wear close toed shoes for the tour of the facility. Hard hats and safety glasses will be provided onsite.
