Report from DC: Energy and Environment Edition

Lost track of Executive orders? Struggling to keep up with all the lawsuits? Asking yourself, “Who’s on first?” You’re not alone. It is a dizzying time in Washington, D.C, with wide-ranging implications for environmental and energy policy efforts. Join us for an update from people who are on the ground in Congress, FERC, and other agencies. The Northeast Energy & Commerce Association’s Legislative Committee and NEWIEE are excited to partner for this event.

SPEAKERS

Moderator: Molly Connors, Policy Analyst – Manager, New England Power Generators Association Association

Molly is a Policy Analyst-Manager at the New England Power Generators Association, the trade association that represents more than 90 percent of the region’s electricity generation capacity. Prior to joining NEPGA in March 2022, she was a member of the External Affairs team at ISO New England, the independent, not-for-profit corporation responsible the reliable operation of the regional electric grid. In her six years at the ISO, she tracked public policies that could affect the region’s electric grid and supported a variety of communications and legislative outreach efforts in New England.

 

Sarah Venuto, Principal and Counsel, Cornerstone Government Affairs

Sarah joined Cornerstone’s federal government relations team in February 2023 after having served as director of the Office of External Affairs at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Sarah is an experienced advisor and attorney with expertise in political and legislative strategy, coalition building and federal policy focused on energy, environment and natural resources.

 

Kellie Donnelly, Executive Vice President & General Counsel, Lot Sixteen

Kellie joined Lot Sixteen as Executive Vice President and General Counsel in 2020 after retiring from the federal government. With more than 25 years of experience in the areas of energy, the environment, and natural resources, she helps clients strategically advocate for their interests and influence policymaking. Previously, Ms. Donnelly served on the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee for 17 years, most recently as Chief Counsel. During her time in the Senate, she provided counsel on all energy policy and federal land management issues within the Committee’s vast jurisdiction. Prior to serving on the Committee, Ms. Donnelly was an attorney with Sullivan & Worcester, LLP where she represented clients before U.S. federal courts, FERC, and state regulatory commissions.
