NEWIEE is at an exciting turning point in its history. Having operated for over 15 years as a volunteer-led organization with a committed Board, strong programming, and an engaged membership, earlier this year we recognized the need to evolve our organizational structure to ensure long-term sustainability and impact toward our mission.
Over the last four months, the NEWIEE Board undertook an extensive and competitive search process to identify the right leader for this pivotal moment in NEWIEE’s evolution. Recognizing the significance of this first Executive Director role, we engaged recruiting firm Marie & Lee LLC to conduct a comprehensive search.
Today, I am thrilled to announce on behalf of the NEWIEE Board of Directors the appointment of Kate P. Johnson as NEWIEE’s first-ever Executive Director.
Kate brings exceptional qualifications and a proven track record with more than a decade of leadership in nonprofits, associations, and membership organizations within the energy sector, most recently as Managing Director for the national energy trade association Advanced Energy United. With her combined experience as a recent member of the Board, strong industry relationships and deep commitment to NEWIEE’s mission, she is uniquely positioned to lead NEWIEE into its next chapter.
We are excited to have Kate at the helm to lead NEWIEE’s transition from a volunteer-driven model to a staffed organization, ensuring operational efficiency, strategic execution of NEWIEE’s goals, and deeper engagement with members and partners. As Executive Director, she will provide leadership to sustain and grow NEWIEE’s impact, build the organization’s capacity, and implement the priorities outlined in our strategic plan.
