Last month’s Annual Member Meeting and Fall Fete was a fantastic close to our year with more than 200 women+ and members of the NEWIEE community gathering to celebrate an impactful year. As NEWIEE’s first Executive Director, I’ve spent the past two months diving into everything NEWIEE and growing more in awe of the power of this community by the day.

What inspires me most about NEWIEE is that it is more than a professional network. We are a community that shows up for each other. We are a catalyst for change in the energy and environmental sectors and in our organizations. And we are a community that represents a powerful work force driving diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across New England.

One member at our meeting shared that guidance from her NEWIEE mentor led to a $20,000 raise. Another said our events made networking less daunting and learning easier. These are just two of many stories that show the power of this community. Further, we delivered a record year of programming that strengthened connections, elevated diverse voices, and expanded our reach across New England. We engaged more than 1,400 attendees across 35 events and featured over 25 gender-diverse speakers who shared their expertise and sparked meaningful conversations.

Last year was a challenging one for our industry and for women+ in the workforce. While NEWIEE can’t solve every challenge, we can help women+ advance, fill gaps in career development, and create spaces where they can find inspiration and encouragement to advocate for themselves.

Looking ahead, our new Strategic Plan reaffirms our mission and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging and prepares for NEWIEE’s next growth phase. Our plan sets a path for NEWIEE to deepen community and member engagement, strengthen our organizational structures so we can see a stronger, more sustainable organization and an industry transformed by diversity and leadership. I can’t wait to continue rolling up my sleeves and leading in partnership with our members, sponsors, partners and allies to make that vision come to life.
