Celebrating NEWIEE’s 12th Annual Awards Gala
This spring, leaders in the energy and environmental sector from across the New England region will come together for a night of celebration at NEWIEE’s Annual Awards Gala. The Gala, which takes place on April 27th at the Westin Copley in Boston, is one of my favorite industry gatherings of the year because it leaves me with a sense of pride knowing that I am part of a community of women who are making a difference and driving tangible results in energy and environment.
The Gala is a time where we celebrate the values NEWIEE stands for: inspiration, leadership, professional development and, of course, community. I could not be more excited to hear from our keynote speaker Maria Robinson, a NEWIEE member and New Englander, who was appointed last year to serve as the Director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Grid Deployment Office, where she and her team are tackling the massive challenge of improving and expanding our country’s transmission and distribution systems to ensure that our electric system is reliable and resilient, and capable of achieving the Biden-Harris Administration’s clean energy goals. It’s wonderful to see a NEWIEE member in such an important leadership role for our nation.
Leadership will also be on display when we recognize our four NEWIEE Awardees: Tracy Babbidge, of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, Vineyard Wind’s Jennifer Cullen, Shalaya Morissette of the U.S. Department of Energy, and Cristina Mendoza of Sustainserv. Each of these women have made a mark in their fields, at their organizations and in their communities, exemplifying NEWIEE’s values.
If you haven’t already secured your seat at the Gala, I welcome you to join us and be part of the energy and honor to be in a room with hundreds of other professionals leading the growth of this industry and excelling in their fields.
