Ask Me Anything: Returning to Work – Staying Whole & Staying Well

Almost 47% percent of U.S. Workers are women*. What happens when a woman needs to take care of an aging parent, adopt or birth a child, step out of the workforce or simply take a mental health break? Who takes care of us? The webinar will discuss barriers women face when returning to work and will give tips on how to have a successful return to work.

Sarah Adams
State Policy Advisor – Vermont, External Affairs
ISO New England
Sarah Adams is a State Policy Advisor at ISO New England, the region’s grid operator, where she is responsible for performing outreach to government officials and other power system stakeholders. Sarah has worked in the energy industry for nearly a decade across the private, public, and non-profit sectors. She came to the ISO with a background in land use planning, most recently supporting communities in central Massachusetts in executing their energy initiatives. Sarah currently serves as vice president and programming co-chair of NEWIEE.
Lexi Stacy

Lexi Stacy started her career as a solar developer, managing zoning and environmental permitting, land control, and financing for large-scale solar projects in Massachusetts. Following law school, Lexi joined Foley Hoag LLP, where she focuses on advising companies on a wide range of corporate matters including venture capital financing, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate governance matters. Lexi is an active member of the firm’s Energy & Climate practice group, working with clients in the clean energy, climate, sustainability, and technology sectors on innovative technologies and business approaches to solving energy and sustainability challenges. Lexi lives on the South Shore with her husband, two-year-old daughter, and Australian cattle dog mix. She enjoys reading, cooking and hiking with her family in her free time.
Jeremy McDiarmid
Managing Director and General Counsel
Advanced Energy United
Jeremy McDiarmid serves as Managing Director and General Counsel for the national association of clean energy companies Advanced Energy United (“United”). In this role, he leads all state-level advocacy efforts in New York and New England, directs United’s national Policy Council, and provides legal guidance to the organization. He has deep experience in policy development, association management, and regulatory law.
Prior to joining Advanced Energy United, Jeremy served as Vice President for Policy & Government Affairs at the Northeast Clean Energy Council (NECEC), playing a key role in helping northeastern states take significant strides along the path to 100% clean energy. While at NECEC, Jeremy led multiple successful legislative and regulatory campaigns on behalf of its membership. He has also served in leadership roles at the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center where he led the state’s clean energy innovation programs and at the non-profit advocacy organization Acadia Center.
Jeremy holds a BA from Syracuse University and a law degree from Boston College, both with honors.

Theresa leads Eversource’s enterprise-wide focus on Pro-Equity, driving foundational understanding to ensure stronger equity, accountability, inclusion and fairness by employees in their daily practices and in interactions with our customers and communities — particularly those that are underserved, economically challenged and environmentally burdened. She also oversees the company’s foundation, investing in initiatives and organizations that help build a healthier, stronger, more sustainable and more equitable future for our customers and communities.
Previously, as the Connecticut Director of Regulatory Affairs, she developed regulatory strategies and monitoring internal practices to ensure compliance with regulatory decisions, interfacing with the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority and other consumer advocate agencies and providing appropriate communication and guidance to management and business partners responsible for submitting required regulatory filings. She also directed the oversight of escalated customer complaints for Eversource in Connecticut and western Massachusetts.
Theresa began her career as an attorney at Eversource in the Legal Department, and after several years of practicing law accepted a position in management.
She is Co-chair of the University of Connecticut African American Alumni Council, a Board member of the iQuilt Partnership, and a member of the Boston Children’s Hospital Philanthropic Board of Advisors and Diversity Committee of the New England Women in Energy and the Environment.
Theresa has received numerous recognitions and awards for her unwavering leadership and dedication to community service, including having her photograph unveiled in celebration of UConn Law School’s 150th anniversary in a “Gallery of Pioneers” honoring alumni for their community service and professional achievements, receiving the 2018 Connecticut Bar Association “Citizen of the Law Award”, receiving the Inaugural 100 Women of Color Award, University of Connecticut Alumni Association Service and Inaugural Diversity Alumni Awards, Urban League of Southern Connecticut African American Woman of Distinction, Connecticut Valley Girl Scouts Woman of Merit Award, and the Hartford Business Journal Remarkable Women in Business Award.
Theresa graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.A. in Sociology, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. In addition, she earned a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law and received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree (PhD) from Goodwin University.
She was Awarded a Certificate of Completion for the Promoting Racial Equity in the Workplace Program, March 2023, John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Executive Education.
