NEWIEE Chapter Week: Western New England

NEWIEE WNE is excited to partner with Levo International, a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to empowering people to end poverty through innovative, simplified hydroponics.
Last year, Levo built a site producing 25,000 pounds of fresh produce annually. This month, they received another vacant lot in the North End of Hartford, one of the most food-insecure areas in the United States. This new site will double the impact—producing 50,000 pounds of fresh food for the community.
We’re looking for volunteers to support the build-out of these new hydroponic farms and help turn a vacant lot into a productive community hub.
Volunteer activities may include:
- Sanding and staining
- Building and assembling hydroponic frames
- Light construction and leveling
- Mulching, potting, and seeding
What to wear/bring:
- Clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or stained
- Closed-toe shoes
- Dress for the weather
- A reusable water bottle
⚠️ Important: All volunteers will be required to sign a waiver as part of registration.
👉 How to register:
After registering with NEWIEE you will need to create a login on the Levo registration platform in addition. Once logged in, you’ll be able to view the event under the NEWIEE group and complete your registration.
