DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1706970838373{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Please join NEWIEE’s Western New England Regional Chapter for a tour of the ISO New England Master Control Center located in Holyoke\, MA on Wednesday\, March 27! \nISO New England is the independent\, not-for-profit organization authorized by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to oversee the day-to-day operation of New England’s electric power generation and transmission system\, administer the region’s competitive wholesale electricity markets\, and manage comprehensive regional power system planning. \nThe tour will include an overview of ISO New England and its three critical roles\, as well as an update on regional energy issues. Attendees will also have an opportunity to view the ISO’s state-of-the-art master control center where the ISO’s certified system operators monitor\, dispatch\, and direct the flow of electricity across the power grid 24 hours a day\, 365 days a year. \nFollowing the tour\, an informal gathering will occur at Iron Duke Brewing (100 State St #122\, Ludlow\, MA 01056). \nWe hope you can join us in Holyoke and/or Ludlow! The tour will began at 4:15 pm with networking to follow at 5 pm. \nWe’ll meet Sara Sankowich\, Unitil’s Director of Sustainability and tour the operations center\, a 54\,000-square-foot\, state-of-the-art\, LEED and WELL certified facility. The operations center is home to Unitil’s Seacoast electric distribution operations including Forestry\, Engineering\, and Dispatch teams. During major weather events\, the facility also serves as the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for the region and supports preparation\, damage assessment\, public safety\, and restoration efforts. Unitil Corporation is a public utility holding company with operations in Maine\, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
