NEWIEE Chapter Week: Boston

March 30 @ 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join NEWIEE’s Boston Chapter for a behind-the-scenes look at Boston Beer Company (home of Samuel Adams). We’ll kick off with a guided brewery tour, followed by a conversation with the company’s sustainability manager. Cap the evening with a networking reception alongside fellow women leaders in energy and environment.

5pm – 6pm – Brewery Tour

The Boston Beer Company

Jill Westra is the Senior Manager of Sustainability at The Boston Beer Company, which includes iconic American brands such as Samuel Adams, Truly, Dogfish Head, Twisted Tea and Angry Orchard. An environmental scientist with a 20‑year career in environmental consulting and corporate sustainability management, Jill specializes in creating and scaling corporate sustainability programs from the ground up. Her work focuses on water and energy efficiency, waste reduction and developing reliable data systems that support operational decision-making.

Based in the Kansas City metro area, Jill is serving her second term as an elected board member of her local water utility. She also serves on the governing boards of two Midwestern non‑profit organizations, Missouri River Relief and the Climate + Energy Project. In addition, Jill is an active member of the Manufacturers Alliance, where she sits on the Sustainability Council and participates in the Women in Manufacturing cohort. She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences such as CiderCon, where she shares practical insights on integrating environmental sustainability efforts into business operations.

Outside of her professional work, Jill volunteers with a retired racing greyhound rescue and plays music in multiple local bands. Originally from Missouri, she has lived and worked in five countries since leaving home and enjoys international travel, eventually returning to the United States with her daughter in 2016.
